Tool #1: Blog Set up and Registration

Even though I have used a blog before, I can say that I found out new things, like creating an Avatar. I really enjoyed creating it. This is a great idea for the kids to each have their own avatar and be able to publish things and have discussions about an specific topic on their blogs. They can publish their own work and receive comments about it and they can also comment and become fans of other blogs. They can learn new things from the blogs they follow or their followers. I am very excited to find out more new things. Keep tune for tool #2.

  1. I agree publishing their own work would be a fun thing for the kids. Do you think being able to publish would make them better writers?

P.S. if you go back to the voki site and select the smaller size, your cute character may not get cut off.

  3. Love your Voki with the moving sun and flowers. I bet your kids would have fun making their own. I like the idea of them writing in a blog and reading others-real-life experiences with reading and writing.

  4. Publising their jobs and having a feedback will also entice first graders to read and write more, what do you think? :)

  5. Your avatar is so cute. Lots of movement. It may be a little hard for a first grader to write in a blog(I am still have problems myself), maybe they could use a simplified version.

  6. I think the kids would really enjoy blogging with each other. It would help them to enjoy writing and possibly even strengthen their writing, especially if others are giving them good suggestions. I think it would take some modelling and practice, what do you think?

  7. Thank you for your comments!!! I was finally able to connect to it without crashing!!! I think it had to do with the avatar I had before.
I know blogging is not the easiest thing to do because it requires time and good internet connection (my blog keeps crashing every time I try to log in). But 1st grade kids could do it with good modeling and of course it needs to be basic. The only problem I find is how can they get the modeling so often?? Between all the things they are already expected to learn and needs to be modeled also for them. I think this is something we could do with our upper groups in first grade.
There are so many things you can do with a blog and add.
